SHIEKHUPURA, April 25: Twelve family members and two robbers sustained injuries in an accident near Upper Chenab Canal (Khanpur) on Lahore Road on Friday.

Reports said that Amanat along with his family was returning to Gojra from Lahore by a truck. Near Khanpur, their truck overturned after it hit a speeding car coming from the opposite direction. Consequently, 14 people suffered injuries. Of them, Nadia Bibi, Nusrat Bibi, Rashida Bibi and Sakina Bibi were shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, in serious condition while Amanat, Naveed and others, including two robbers, were admitted to the local DHQ Hospital.

Police said that four car riders were highway robbers and that they had arrested Babar Changar and his accomplice while the rest of them managed to escape.

RI: A Ferozewala court on Friday awarded eight-year rigorous imprisonment to a drug trafficker. According to the prosecution, convict Rashid alias Sohni was arrested with eight kilogrammes of hashish.

DEMO: Scores of students of schools and colleges blocked traffic for some two hours outside Ferozewala courts on GT Road and also staged a demonstration.

They were protesting against the excesses of local transporters. The Ferozewala DSP rushed to the spot and got restored the traffic.
