THATTA, April 25: Hundreds of villagers, workers of political parties, and NGOs staged a protest demonstration against the water crisis on Wednesday.
The protestors carrying banners and placards raised slogans against the water crisis. Some protesters lit bonfires on the roads as a result of which traffic remained suspended for about five hours.
They also deflated the tyres of a police mobile, which had arrived at the site to disperse them.
The participants first gathered at the office of the Taluka Nazim from where they marched through the main bazaars and staged a demonstration in front of the Irrigation Office.
The protestors demanded that the water supply to their areas be restored. The Taluka Nazim, Hafiz Rahman, assured the protesters that water would be supplied within two days.—APP
