Army ready to meet threats: Kayani

ISLAMABAD, April 21: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that Pakistan Army, with the support of the nation, is and will remain fully prepared to meet the current and emerging external and internal threats.

He was presiding over the 61st Formation Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters on Monday. It was held to review the progress on de-induction of serving officers seconded to civil departments.

The participants were briefed on security environment, training matters and administrative measures. The briefing was followed by an open discussion.

Gen Kayani also awarded the army’s sports trophy to the Karachi Corps.

The conference is being attended by corps commanders, principal staff officers and formation commanders. It will focus on other matters of professional importance on Tuesday.

The next three days will be utilised for the Selection Board 2008 for promotion of lieutenant colonels.
