LAHORE, April 19: The PML-N Lawyers Forum has asked the Punjab government to remove all law officers, public prosecutors and legal advisers appointed on a political basis by the previous government.

Chaired by its president, Wali Muhammad Khan, the forum in its meeting formed a body to provide suggestions to the provincial government for improvement of the prosecution.

The meeting said that a number of appointees in these departments did not meet the required criteria and was a burden on the national exchequer.

It called for making fresh appointments from among the competent and efficient persons purely observing the merit.

The meeting demanded of the new government to set nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan free and immediately lift all restrictions on his movement. —Reporter
