Protest against Water shortage

SUKKUR, April 19: Hundreds of residents of New Pind took out a procession and staged a sit-in outside the Taluka Council office here on Saturday to protest against shortage of water in their area.

The procession started from New Pind. The participants, raising slogans against the taluka municipal administration, marched on different roads and reached the Taluka Council office outside which they staged a sit-in.

They told journalists that the taluka municipal administration had failed to provide water to their area and they were compelled to fetch water from other areas. They demanded smooth supply of water to their area.

Sukkur City Taluka Nazim Mohammad Naeem Siddiqui met with the protesters and assured them of smooth supply of water to their area on which they ended protest.

Meanwhile, the taluka nazim has directed the engineer of water works to ensure smooth supply of water to different areas.

At a meeting with water works officials and others concerned, he said that heavy duty generators would be provided at the water works shortly to ensure smooth water supply in case of power breakdown.

He directed the officials to visit different areas of the city to ensure that they were being provided water.
