SHIKARPUR, April 18: Truck drivers blocked Shikarpur-Sukkur road at Jahan Khan roundabout to protest against the thrashing of truck drivers by traffic police on the refusal to pay them bribe.

The road was reopened for vehicular traffic on the assurance by the Lakhi police officials that action would be taken against the traffic police staff involved in the incident.

FIRE: Eleven houses were gutted when fire broke out in Gul Hassan Abro village near Lakhi Ghulam Shah because of electric short-circuit. Household items, food stuff and dowry of some girls were reduced to ashes.
