OKARA, April 17: ‘Maalki ya Maut’ remained the slogan of the tenants who gathered in thousands at the All-Pakistan Kissan Conference, demanding ownership rights of houses and agricultural land at the villages of military farms.

Farmers from all over the country made it to Chak 15/4-L and drove home their concerns under the banner of the Anjuman-i-Mazareen Punjab.

Their representatives said the tenants’ struggle was based on the slogan of ‘Maalki ya Maut’ (ownership or death). They demanded that cases registered against the tenants during the movement should be withdrawn. “If cases can be withdrawn against politicians under the NRO, why can’t the tenants be given relief under the same reconciliation plan,” they added.

They called for withdrawal of the murder case registered against Mehr Abdul Sattar and his 18 co-activists.

Meanwhile, an AMP group, led by Younis Iqbal Masih, announced setting up a protest camp outside the National Assembly building to protest the murder of tenant Javed Masih. — Correspondent
