ATTOCK, April 16: The director anti-corruption establishment (ACE) Rawalpindi region has sought comments from the DCO of Attock regarding allegations of irregularities, malpractice and misuse of official powers by the executive district officer (EDO) finance and planning Attock, it has been learnt.

Sources said the ACE Rawalpindi in a letter to the district coordination officer on April 11 said they had received a source report on April 9 from the assistant director ACE Attock alleging that a grade-17 officer had been serving on 19 grade post of EDO F&P Attock since long, violating the service rules and regulations.

It said two official vehicles were being allegedly used mostly for personal purposes by manipulating the log book, while some low-paid officials of the said office were working as domestic servants at the officer’s residence. There are also reports of irregularities in the TA and DA affairs as it revealed that official visits had been shown on Eid and other holidays.

The director ACE told the DCO Attock that his subordinate officer at the ACE Attock had sought proper inquiry into the matter on the basis of the report/reference; therefore, comments may be furnished to his office for further necessary action.

In pursuance of the letter, the DCO on April 12 directed the district officer revenue (DOR) to examine the relevant record of EDO F&P office, keeping in view the points raised in the reference and submit a report within five days.

The DCO also directed all EDOs to extend full cooperation and assistance by proving relevant record/information to the DOR Attock to complete the process, sources added.

When contacted, the DCO Abdul Razzak Malik said he had deputed the DOR, Chaudhry Zulfiqar, to probe the matter and submit a report in five days.

Earlier, an inquiry was also conducted against the office of the EDO F&P after irregularities were unearthed by the district monitoring officer (DMO) in the meeting minutes of district development committee regarding developments schemes.
