KARACHI, April 14: Younis Khan’s pullout midway through the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh may have triggered speculation about his future but the senior Pakistani batsman on Monday said he has no intentions of taking an early retirement.

The right hander said that he had not thought about retiring at this stage and was keen to play for a few more years.

Shying away from elaborating on his sudden withdrawal from the BD one-dayers, Younis said he did want to rest for a few days. “But this talk about me retiring is not correct. Neither has the cricket board spoken to me about any disciplinary action on my leaving the series,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources said Younis was still upset over the manner in which the board had allowed the ACU official to interview him without any prior notice before the first One-day International against Bangladesh in Lahore.

”He does not want to play as he is still upset that the board didn’t inform him properly he was going to questioned by an ACU official regarding his friendship with an Indian national on the tour of India six months back,” the source added.

But the senior player said the chapter was closed for him.

A senior board official also dismissed reports about any action being taken against Younis for pulling out of the series. “There is no reason to take any disciplinary action against him. He wanted a rest to attend to some personal problem that is all,” the official said.—Agencies
