ISLAMABAD, April 13: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has suffered losses of over Rs16 million due to numerous cases of theft of its electrical materials which were seldom reported to the police or investigated by the department.

According to a report of the Auditor General of Pakistan forwarded to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly, the materials comprising transformers and conductors were stolen in the Iesco worth Rs16.422 million which have been reported by various operation divisions of the power distribution company.

In most of the cases, neither were FIRs lodged with the police nor inquiries conducted by the Iesco management to fix responsibility.
