Iesco gets new chief executive

ISLAMABAD, April 12: Raja Abdul Ghafoor has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) after the expiry of contractual period of Brig Shahbaz Azam (retired).

According to official sources, a notification in this regard has been issued and Raja Ghafoor has assumed his charge as CEO of the company who earlier served as General Manager (Technical) and Chief Engineer.

Addressing a reception held for the outgoing Iesco chief Brig Azam here Saturday he said the company retained top position in reducing line losses among other power distribution companies. He said during his tenure Brig Azam served the company with dedication and commitment and made it a customer friendly company.

Brig Azam said he not only tried to run the company on commercial basis but created village electrification cell. He said during the period he constructed five grid stations under one year 6th STG programme with cost of Rs2 billion which would help strengthening power position in the region.—APP
