TOBA TEK SINGH, April 11: Scores of shoemakers took out a protest rally against factory owners for refusing a raise in their wages here on Friday.
The protesters started their rally from Kamal Chowk and ended at the District Courts Complex after marching through different roads.
Addressing the participants, union leader Muhammad Asghar said that factory owners had made no raise in their wages for the last 14 years despite manifold hike in prices of every commodity.
Representatives of workers later met DCO Nawazish Ali who assured them that owners would be asked to meet their just demand.
STRIKE: Lawyers observed a complete strike on Friday in Toba, Gojra and Kamalia on the call of the Pakistan Bar Council to protest Karachi killings.
The DBA also held a meeting which was presided over by bar president Mian Shoaib Muhammad. Speaking on the occasion, the bar president held the MQM responsible for Karachi riots.
