MUZAFFARABAD, April 22: At least 14 people, 11 of them from a family, were injured in the indiscriminate Indian shelling from across the Line of Control in two different sectors of Azad Kashmir on Monday, police said.

Indian troops shelled the Hajira and Khuiratta sectors in the southern districts of Poonch and Kotli respectively, without any provocation, and targeted civilians, they said.

In Dara Sher Khan village of Hajira sector, a shell directly hit a house of Abid Hussain Shah, injuring him, his wife Kulsoom, his sons— Shahid, Asif, Asad— and daughters— Sobia, Fareeda, Shamalia, Irum, Sundal and Sunbal. The house was also badly damaged and some cattle were also killed, police said adding that another person Chaudhry Sher Mohammad was injured in the same village. In the Tai village one Mazhar was also injured.

In the Khuiratta sector, Zaman Butt was injured in Jagal Pal village, police said adding that shelling in most of the areas was continuing intermittently.
