KARACHI, April 9: The Karachi Bar Association president, Mahmoodul Hasan, said unknown armed men entered the KBA office, beat up lawyers and set fire to vehicles on Wednesday.

He said that a commercial building with offices of lawyers was also set ablaze.

He added that at least five charred bodies had been recovered from the building.

He denied that KBA lawyers were involved in a scuffle with lawyers associated with a political party.

The KBA vice president, Mushtaq Jahangiri, said that MQM-backed lawyers entered the KBA office and beat up lawyers.
