MULTAN, April 22: Lawyers were all praise for former judge Tariq Mahmood of Balochistan High Court for showing impeccable courage by not succumbing to the state pressure.

A joint meeting of the High Court Bar and the District Bar Association was held here on Monday with former’s president Arif Alvi in the chair.

The meeting observed that the judge demonstrated a rare character in the judicial history of the country.

The meeting expressed complete solidarity with the Pakistan Bar Council, the Punjab Bar Council, the Supreme Court Bar Association and the High Court Bar Association in their opposition to the presidential referendum.

It was decided that the lawyers community of Multan would also observed a complete strike on April 25. Black flags would be hoisted on the offices of the high court and district Bars. A protest procession would also be brought out against the referendum.
