Owais shines in KCCA event

KARACHI, April 8: Pakistan Navy pulled off a surprise when they beat United Bank Ltd (UBL) by 99 runs in the Hinopak Trophy KCCA Inter-departmental cricket tournament at the UBL Sports Complex Ground on Monday.

Batting first, Pakistan Navy mustered 279 for eight in stipulated 40 overs. Owais Ahmed (82), Ali Asad (79) and Shaharyar Ghani (35) were their main contributors. Umair Salim claimed four wickets for 38. Rizwan Ahmed got two for 32.

The UBL, in reply, were restricted to 189 for 9 in the allotted overs. Rizwan Ahmed made 51 while Tariq Haroon (38) and Hasan Qasim (27) also batted well. Samiullah (2-34) and Faraz Ahmed (2-39) bowled well.
