SUKKUR, April 7: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur division bench, dismissed a petition filed by the Sukkur district nazim Nasir Hussain Shah seeking a ban on opposition members from tabling a no-confidence motion against him for one year.

The bench, comprising Justice Dr Rana Mohammad Shamim and Justice Farrukh Zia G. Shaikh, issued these orders on Monday.

The nazim was represented by Mohammad Mubeen Khan and Bhajan Das Tejwani advocates while Awam Dost panel members Shakeel Memon, Lal Mohammad Bhutto and Eshwar Lal were represented by Mukesh Kumar advocate. Earlier, the nazim’s advocates stated before the court that meeting of the district council was summoned on March 17, 2008 for presenting tabling a no- confidence motion but the meeting was adjourned due to lack of quorum. They further pleaded that lack of quorum may be treated as failure of no-confidence motion, therefore, no such motion could be moved for a period of one year.

Burns victim dies: A woman, who sustained 50 per cent burns injuries four months ago in a fire incident in railway quarters, new yard colony, Rohri, breathed her last at her home on Sunday.

Besides Salma Khatoon, 28, wife of Talib Hussain Jagirani, her four sons Ain-ul-Huda 5, Shams-ul-Huda 7, Noor-ul-Huda 9, and infant Najam-ul-Huda had also sustained burns injuries in the incident.

Ain-ul-Huda 5, had died in taluka hospital Rohri on the same day while Najam-ul-Huda died in Civil Hospital Sukkur after a week.

According to Mr Jagirani, his wife was under treatment in the

Civil Hospital Sukkur and the district nazim, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, during a visit to hospital, had paid an amount of Rs100,000 for her treatment which was not properly utilised.

He alleged that after lapse of that amount, his wife was forcibly discharged from the hospital.

Talib Hussain further said that the doctors had advised her treatment in a Karachi hospital which was almost impossible for a man like me. She died while being treated at his home, he said.
