SUKKUR April 7: Hundreds of Sunni Tehrik activists held protest demonstration and sit-in at the National Highway near Baberloi Bypass near Sukkur on Monday night against the killing of workers and attacks on their offices in Karachi.
The activists gathered at the National Highway and staged a sit-in for two hours, suspending vehicular traffic between Sindh and Punjab. Protesters were carrying banners and placards and shouting slogans against an ethnic party.
They criticized the Sindh government for taking along with it the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). They were of the view that the PPPP and Prime Minister seemed helpless before the terrorists in Karachi. They blamed the MQM for killing Sunni Tehrik workers and attacking their offices in Karachi and demanded immediate access to no go areas in Karachi.
They also demanded immediate arrest of culprits involved in Nishter Park carnage. The Sunni Tehrik leaders also condemned Danish newspapers for publishing blasphemous caricatures and Danish Company for producing blasphemous film, and demanded of the government of Pakistan to end diplomatic ties with Denmark.
Later, heavy contingent of police reached the spot, negotiated with the protesters and convinced them in ending the blockade.
