CAPE TOWN, April 4: Haroon Lorgat, the next chief executive of the ICC, said on Friday the image of cricket was one of the challenges he will face when he takes over from Malcolm Speed in July.

“There have been certain incidents over the past few years that have impacted on the image of cricket,” he said at a press conference in Cape Town to confirm his appointment.

“Being such a global sport it is a challenge that is always going to be there, to protect the image and manage the potential conflicts that one might see coming. There’s some work to be done to ensure we better manage those sorts of situations,” he added.
