Gas pipeline blown up

Published April 4, 2008

QUETTA, April 3: Supply from the Pir Koh gas field to the main purification plant in Sui was suspended after a pipeline was blown up by suspected saboteurs in Dashat Goran area of Dera Bugti district on Thursday.

According to police sources, the blast was caused by a device planted under the 24-inch pipeline which supplied gas to the main plant.

PPL sources, however, said that despite the blast, the plant was functioning and gas supply was not suspended to any area.

They said that the damaged pipeline would be repaired by Friday morning.
