LHC benches Reduce backlog

Published April 4, 2008

LAHORE, April 3: The principal seat of the Lahore High Court and its all three benches, during the last three months, decided 15,000 cases, reducing the backlog remarkably.

An official statement issued here on Thursday said when Chief Justice Sayed Zahid Husain took oath of his office on Jan 1 this year, as many as 85,600 cases were pending. Now the number of the cases pending adjudication had come down to 82,100, it added.

It was anticipated that the dedication and commitment of the judges would soon reduce the backlog and suffering of litigants would be eliminated, the statement said.
