Three more flour mills sealed

GUJRANWALA, April 3: Three more flour mills were sealed after a joint raiding team of the food department and police seized two more flour-laden trucks on Thursday.

Reports reaching here said food department’s divisional deputy director Ahmad Aziz Tarar received information that flour was being smuggled to tribal areas from Gujranwala. At this, the joint team conducted a raid and seized two trucks from near upper Chenab river bridge in Wazirabad. The deputy director later sealed these flour mills.

Sabzi Mandi police had arrested accused Akmal on Sheikhupura Road some two days ago. The accused had reportedly threatened to kill City Police Officer Khadim Hussain Bhatti besides blowing up all installations on important city roads.

The CPO told reporters that the accused, a resident of Shahdara, Lahore, had also threatened to kill senior police officers in other districts.

ARRESTED: A union council nazim and his four accomplices involved in hurling murder threats were arrested in Khiali Shahpur on Thursday.

Reports said that accused Khiali UC nazim Nasir Goraya had barged into Nawaz Awan’s house along with his accomplices Maqsood, Mubashar and others and demanded from him Rs1 million protection money. On refusal, they injured his nephews Ghulam Mustafa, Asif and Nadeem with butts of pistols. They also threatened to kill them if protection money was not paid to them.

Khiali police have also recovered illegal arms from them. The accused, however, denied that police seized any arms from them.

SEALED: A private hospital being run by dispensers and other paramedical staff on Sheikhupura Road was sealed by a raiding party of the health department here on Thursday.

EDO (health) Dr Nasir Cheema along with his team conducted a raid and also recovered spurious medicines from the hospital.

He also got registered a case against owners of the hospital.
