HYDERABAD, April 3: Jeay Sindh Students Federation activists staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday to protest against the arrest of JSSF leader Suryah Sindhi by the Qasimabad police.
Speaking on the occasion, Habib Bhutto, Irfan Mughal and others said that Mr Sindhi had been arrested without any rhyme or reason and added that the arrest was part of “an unannounced operation against nationalist activists.”
They warned of launching a protest movement throughout Sindh if the JSSF leader was not released.
According to the Qasimabad police, Mr Sindhi was wanted in the FIR no. 122/06 registered under section 353/147, 148, 149, PPC, (causing obstruction in official duty and rioting) and was an absconder.
When he was arrested, he was found in the possession of an unlicensed pistol and another case had been registered against him under section 13-D of the Arms Ordinance, a police official said.
He was produced in a court and had been remanded to judicial custody for six days, the official added.
