LAHORE, April 3: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has asked the National Productivity Organisation (NPO) to expedite concessionary financing to the industries implementing the energy audit.

Voicing the demand at the stocktaking session of the second phase of energy audits in textile industry here on Thursday, Aptma Punjab chairman Akbar Sheikh said that the NPO had agreed on concessionary financing to the industries implementing energy audit measures as part of a long-term strategy for conserving energy.

He said that quick and broad-based energy audits were necessary for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the textile industry.

He said that the audits had not only facilitated optimal use of electricity but also created a pool of energy conservation specialists that had the capability of undertaking such audits on their own.

Pawan Kumar, an expert from Asian Productivity Organisation, said that the so far 10 to 15 per cent conservation had been achieved on adoption of the measures indicated in the energy audits.
