Published April 3, 2008

LAHORE, April 2: A fine century by opener Nasir Jamshed propelled National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to a 26-run win against Rawalpindi Rams in a high-scoring Super Eight Group ‘A’ match of the National One-day Cup at the Sheikhupura Stadium on Wednesday.

Nasir cracked 14 boundaries and four sixes in scoring 128 off 115 balls as the bankers reached 319 for four in 50 overs.

But in reply, the Rams fought well through a fine opening stand between Umar Amin and Babar Naeem in chasing a tough target, until they were dismissed in the 49th over for 293.

Umar (60 off 69 balls, nine fours) and Babar (55 off 39 balls, nine fours and two sixes) provided a fine start of 106.

Earlier, Nasir and fellow left-hander Salman Butt (58, seven fours) had given the bankers a similar launching pad by adding 143 for the first wicket.
