QUETTA, April 2: Two army personnel were killed in Quetta on Wednesday.

According to police sources, gunmen on a bike opened fire on the two army soldiers on the airport road near Alamo Chowk, killing them on the spot.

The victims, identified as Mohammad Saeed and Zafran Khan, were going to a bazaar when they came under attack. Their bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital in Quetta.

Police said that it was a case of target killing and an investigation was in progress.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Baloch Liberation Army calling from an unspecified place told newsmen that his organisation was behind the killing of two security personnel.

In another incident, two people were killed when their donkey-cart hit a landmine planted near the Bagar village of Sobatpur in Jaffarabad district.

Police identified one of the victims as Lal Khan Khosa.

Meanwhile, security forces foiled a terrorist attempt to blow up a bridge near the Sangsilla area of Dera Bugti district by defusing a powerful explosive device. “It was a 19kg device planted under the bridge,” police said. No arrest was reported.
