ISLAMABAD, April 1: Four players qualified for the main round of the sixth Chief of Army Staff (CAS) International squash championship after winning their respective matches at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Monday.

The winning players are: Waqar Mehboob, Arshad Iqbal Burki, Wasim Shad and Aaqib Hanif. They will join the 12 players, including four foreigners, who are already in the main draw.

World No.17 Ong Beng Hee of Malaysia is the top seed of the championship. He will face Pakistan’s Majid Khan in the opening match of the main draw at 12.00pm on Wednesday.

In the qualifiers, Waqar Mehboob came from behind after losing first two games and won the match 8-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-5.

Arshad Iqbal Burki beat Safeerullah Khan 11-8, 8-11, 10-9, 12-10 in the 50-minute encounter.

Wasim Shad defeated Mamoon Rasheed in 32 minutes with a score of 10-11, 11-3, 11-5, 11-3.

Aaqib Hanif outclassed Shams-ul-Islam in straight sets (11-5, 11-7, 11-7) in 34 minutes.
