LAHORE, April 1: Senate Human Rights Committee Chairman SM Zafar has welcomed the decision of the cabinet to do away with the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FECR) in the Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata).
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Mr Zafar said the committee had taken up the issue of the FCR and sent its recommendations to both the federal government and the committee headed by
Justice Muhammad Ajmal (retired).
The suggestions given by the committee should be implemented as it removed all draconian and anti-human rights provisions and yet allowed the improved system to operate till the area (Fata) could be assimilated fully into a province, he said.
