PESHAWAR, Oct 23: The NWFP government has decided to reopen the colleges and universities from Oct 24, where exams were being conducted prior to their closure, and resume the scheduled tests from Wednesday.

After a series of protest demos and rallies against the US-led bombing on Afghanistan swept the province, the government had closed all educational institutions and postponed the exams.

The government, in a handout issued rather belatedly on Tuesday, announced: “All girls and professional colleges and departments of universities where exams are being conducted will reopen on Wednesday”.

Most of the students, who have appeared as private candidates in the MA exams, have kept calling at Dawn offices the whole day to get information about the resumption of exams.

In a separate statement, NWFP University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, has advised the students of 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year to appear in the ongoing supplementary and annual examinations as per schedule.
