KARACHI, March 25: St Patrick’s High School and City School Gulshan are leading the standings with six points each in the school category after culmination of the first week’s matches in the first Under-15 Youth football championship, involving 32 schools and academies, underway at a local stadium here.

All the 16 school teams have so far played two matches each in their respective groups and St Pat’s who are placed in Group ‘A’, won both their matches against the Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) and Paragon Public School. Ahmed Ali Baig and Babar Hussain were the scorers in the first match, which they won 2-0. The second match was won 4-0.

In their first match, City School Gulshan, placed in Group ‘D’, too thrashed their opponents, Bayview Academy, 6-0.

Meanwhile Beaconhouse Jubilee, Beacon Defence, Karachi Grammar School (KGS) and Bayview High School with a win and draw have four points each. Defence Authority (DA) Public School, Beacon PECHS, City PAF and Bayview Academy are following with three points each. Foundation Public School, which drew both its matches against Beacon Defence and Jubilee, have acquired two points. CAS and Beacon Defence with one point each are just above Paragon Public, City Nazimabad and Generations who are yet to earn a point.

Meanwhile in the academies category, where all the 16 academies have so far played one match against each other in their respective groups, ZU Football Academy, Malik United, Karachi City FA, Gharibshah M’Dan, Zamzama United, Gulshan Soccer Academy, Karachi All Stars and Real Soccer are all on equal footing with three points each.

The matches resume on Friday afternoon and will carry on till Sunday followed by another four-day break so that the players can attend school without any hindrance.
