Woman puts out lights of her life

KHANEWAL, March 25: Two children are feared drowned as a woman along with her six dear ones jumped into Sidhnai Canal on Tuesday afternoon. The woman and four of her children were rescued.

Reports said labourer Safdar Husain’s wife Khurshid Bibi took her children – Sumera, 10, Asghar Ali, 6, Akbar Ali, 8, Baqir Ali, 2, Shabana, 4 and Bhutto (hardly six months) -- to the Sidhnai Link Canal near Kukarhatta Town (Kabirwala tehsil), about 30km from here, and made them jump into the canal one by one and soon followed them.

Some locals jumped to save the woman and her children and managed to pull out Khurshid Bibi and four of the children.

Rescuers were in search of the remaining two children, but couldn’t find any clue to them till last reports came in.

The Nawan Shehr police are investigating.
