KARACHI, March 25: The Sindh government has notified the committee for an inquiry a fire in the office of Board of Revenue, Sindh.

To be headed by additional chief secretary (dev) of planning and development department, the committee members will include Sindh home secretary, Sindh chief inspector (electric), Karachi, chief fire officer of the district government, additional secretary of board of revenue to be nominated by senior member of BoR, nominee of the Karachi Building Control Authority and other member to be co-opted by the committee.

The committee will assess the damage to the building structure and suggest future course of action. The issue will be examined in the following parameters and submit recommendations to the chief secretary within 15 days after the issuance of the notification.

The terms of reference include finding out the cause of the fire that erupted in the revenue department on March 20, identify the security and safety lapses to preserve the record and fix the responsibility, identify the record burnt and suggest how the burnt record will be reconstructed/recovered along with the name of officers and period required.—APP/PPI
