Exhibition of paintings at embassy

Published March 24, 2008

WASHINGTON, March 23: Pakistan was neither falling apart nor was going to be taken over by militants, said artist Jimmy Engineer at the inauguration of a three-day exhibition of his paintings and prints at the Pakistan Embassy.

“It is a country of rich cultural traditions and a country of saints and poets who preached love and peace,” he said. “It will overcome the problems it faces.”

The prints on display present various scenes from the Pakistan movement, emphasising the sacrifices people rendered to achieve independence.

Some of his famous works on the partition are also being displayed.
