KARACHI, March 20: Two people, including an activist of the Sunni Tehrik, were killed on Thursday in separate acts of violence in the city, witnesses and police said.

They said the 26-year-old ST worker, Imran alias Guddu, son of Ramazan, was found shot dead near the A Area Market in Bhitai Colony, Korangi Crossing, at around 8:30am.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where sources said the man had received two bullets in the abdomen from a close range.

Police said the man was believed to have been shot dead at the place where his body was found as two bullet casings were also found there.

They said the victim, a carpenter, had been missing since Wednesday night.

Police said he had also been affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement before he joined the religious outfit.

His killing sparked tension in the vicinity, where ST workers also held a demonstration and blocked the main Korangi Road to protest against the incident.

Meanwhile, the owner of a rent-a-car outlet was shot dead near a restaurant in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
