KARACHI, March 20: Sindh chief minister-designate Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that maintenance of law and order situation, controlling unemployment and rapid industrial development would be his top priorities after assuming power.

He said that the proposals of business community regarding the betterment in these areas would be given due importance.

Addressing a delegation of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at his residence here on Thursday, he said that the government would not ignore the suggestions and proposals of the KCCI in framing the industrial and trade policies. He added that the business community would be taken into confidence on the trade-related issues.

According to a KCCI press release, Siraj Kassam Teli, who led the delegation, assured Qaim Ali Shah of the support of business community for the development of Karachi and Sindh.

He said Karachi contributes 70 per cent of the revenue to the national kitty, but it had been deprived of the basis facility of electricity. He added that the business community would continue efforts for the rights of Karachi and hoped that the new chef minister would resolve the issues of Karachi’s industries after holding discussions with the representatives of industry and trade.
