KARACHI, March 18: Fahad Anwer on Tuesday created quite a stir when he extended promising Zuhair Raza to three sets before bowing out in the men’s singles pre quarter-finals of the third Sindh ranking tennis tournament at Beach View Club.

After conceding the one-sided opener 1-6, Fahad bounced back taking the tie-break set 7-6 (5) to level the score one-all. He, however, lost the decisive set 2-6 to his opponent who advanced into the last eight.

Joining him among others, were the top seed Vinod Das who beat Zubair Dadi 6-3, 6-3 and second seed Asfand Rauf who outplayed Qazi Zain 6-1, 6-1.

Boy’s U-11 singles pro-set semi-final: Fraz Ahmed Faiz bt Saud Shoaib 8-2.

Wednesday’s fixtures:

Men’s singles at 10.00am; boys U-15 singles 1.00pm.
