ABBOTTABAD March 15: Despite clear instructions by the superintendent police Abbottabad, city transporters are charging fares at their own free will on the local and inter-city routes, while traffic police and the regional transport authorities have completely failed to keep a check.

Few days back, SP Abbottabad after a meeting with the office bearers of the general bus stand, local Transporters Union (Suzuki, Vans, Coaches) has decided not to increase the fares till revision by the provincial government for which 31st March 2008 was set as a deadline and after that, local transporters were allowed to increase the fares with the approval of regional transport authority and the traffic police.

People have demanded the district nazim and the SP to look into the matter and restrict the transporters from overcharging the passengers.
