CHAKWAL, March 14: The city police arrested four persons on the charge of their link with banned religious outfits.

In an operation against suspected elements after the Lahore bomb blasts, the police rounded up Zahid Tauheedi, Hakim Waqar linked with the outlawed Lashkar-i-Tayyaba along with another man whose identity could not be ascertained.

GIRL KIDNAPPED: Athar Mehmood told the police that his daughter was kidnapped allegedly by two persons. They also took away Rs70,000 cash from his house.

The police have registered a case against accused.

TRANSPORTERS RAISE FARES: Transporters here have raised fares on the pretext of increase in the prices of petroleum products.

Passengers have protested against the unilateral decision of the transporters.

Scuffles between transporters and passengers have become a routine.

People criticised the department concerned for not paying heed to the public grievance and regulate fares in accordance with the government policy.
