KHAIRPUR, March 12: The district council on Wednesday offered fateha for the departed soul of Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

Awam Dost Panel nazims Abdul Qayyum Shaikh, Faqir Nazeer Hisbani and Ghazala Siyal said that hundreds of fake cases had been lodged against ADP nazims and members of district council over the past five years.

They said that the cases had been lodged to pressurise the ADP nazims to change their loyalty but they would not like to repeat the practice after Feb 18 general elections.

They said that more than 300 fake cases were registered against PPP workers and ADP nazims after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination on Dec 27.

Khairpur Dost Panel members and nazims Begum Rana Shah, Ali Dino Mangi and Shams Lashari accused PPP workers and supporters of taking undue advantage of the situation following Ms Bhutto’s assassination.

They said that police more than 50 cases against PML-F workers in Nara and Kotdiji talukas after general elections.
