LARKANA, March 12: The bodies of 20 unclaimed victims of the Oct 18 Karsaz bombing were buried in Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, near the mausoleum of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The bodies had been brought from Karachi in ambulances under heavy security and the funeral prayers, led by Maulvi Abdul Rahim Qazi, were attended by hundreds of people.

The bodies, wrapped in PPP flags, were lowered into the graves and a boundary wall was erected around them.

Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, former district nazim of Larkana, and Riaz Phulpoto, the estate manager of the late Benazir Bhutto, made arrangements for the burial under the supervision of the Naudero House.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah, PPP’s designated Sindh chief minister; Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sassui Palijo, Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, Pir Mazharul Haq and Ayaz Soomro were present on the occasion.

They offered Fateha and laid floral wreaths on the graves of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

Syed Qaim Ali and Mr Khuhro remained inside the mausoleum for some time. Scanning gate had been installed outside the area and a special police contingent had been deployed at the main gate.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the bodies were being temporarily buried there on the orders of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in accordance with the will of Ms Bhutto.

The graves, he said, would be marked with gravestones bearing DNA test numbers along with epitaph, ‘I am Bhutto’. He said that the party would continue to search for the victims’ families.
