KARACHI, March 10: A brother of a Lyari’s union council nazim was shot and wounded by two suspected dacoits, who were also injured and arrested after a shootout with a constable on Monday, police and hospital sources said.

Kalri police said that Abdur Razzaq, the 35-year-old brother of UC-9 Nazim Abdul Majeed, was shot and wounded near his brother’s office on Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road.

Police said that Abdur Razzaq along with his two friends Abdul Samad and Ravi were taken hostage at gunpoint by two bandits as they left the nazim’s office. They deprived Abdul Samad of Rs1,100 and Ravi of his cellular phone.

They also shot at the nazim’s brother during his struggle with them. Constable Jameel witnessing the incident close by shot at and injured the bandits. The policeman caught the bandits red-handed and seized two TT pistols from their possession.

The injured victim and suspects were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. Abdur Razzaq was in a serious condition as he was shot to his head, however, the condition of the injured suspects was stable, hospital sources said.
