GHALANAI, March 10: Militants fired rockets at security forces near Ghalanai in the Mohmand tribal region on Sunday night.

A caller who introduced himself Dr Assad, a spokesperson for militants in the region, told Dawn that they would continue attacks on security forces in the region to avenge the killing of their five comrades who were shot down at Nakai checkpost last week.

Officials said that miscreants fired rockets at paramilitary forces in the region on Sunday night, but no loss of life or property was reported. Security forces retaliated and fired artillery shells from their base in Mamad Gut area.

Residents of the area said that several houses also came under attack.
