Mustafa recovers to enter final

KARACHI, March 9: Mustafa Zaidi showed a great fight back when he recovered from a set down to turn the tables on Talha Saeed to move into the juniors’ under-17 singles final of the second Sindh ranking tennis championship at DHA Sunset Club on Sunday.

Zaidi conceded the first set 5-7 only to recover and win the remaining two 6-0, 6-1 without any resistance from his opponent.

He now meets top seed Syed Zuhair Raza for the title clash who had already cruised into the final beating Omer Shahid straight on Saturday.

Results:

Juniors’ U-17 singles semi-final: Mustafa Zaidi bt Talha Saeed 5-7, 6-0, 6-1.

Boys’ U-13 singles pro-set quarter-final: Faraz Ahmed Faiz bt Arsalan Allawala 7-6 (7-3).

Boys’ U-11 singles pro-set quarter-finals: Talha Zubair Surmawala bt Mustafa Bengali 8-0; Ali Mooraj bt M. Raza Sawani 8-1; Imran Mooraj bt Saad Rasool 8-2.

Girls’ U-17 singles pro-set round robin: Eman Malik bt Uzma Zakaria 8-2; Maheen Dada bt Ruqaiya Bengali 8-2.

Monday’s fixtures:

Juniors’ doubles 10.00am; girls’ U-17 singles 12.00noon; boys’ U-13 singles, boys’ U-9 singles 2.00pm; boys/girls U-11 2.30pm.
