QUETTA, March 9: Five suspected suicide bombers were arrested after a powerful explosion left four of them injured in a house in Pashtoonabad on late Saturday night.
“A suicide jacket, around 3kg of high explosive material, two remote-controlled systems, four electronic detonators, Jihadi literature and CDs were seized from the house,” Rehmatullah Niazi, DIG Operation, told Dawn.
According to police sources, the explosion occurred in a house in Usman Qila area.
A man who brought the four injured to a private hospital told doctors the injuries were caused by a pressure cooker which had burst.
Police moved the injured to the civil hospital where doctors said they had been injured by some explosive substance.
Police took into custody the man who had brought the injured to the hospital.
After interrogating him, police raided the house where they found the suicidal jacket and other material.
“The suspects injured in the explosion were preparing a suicide jacket during which the explosion occurred,” the DIG said, adding that they were planning a suicide attack in Quetta.
The injured were identified as Zainullah, Noorullah, Asmaullah and Abdul Wahab and the fifth man as Jumma Khan.
