Zuhair storms into U-17 final

KARACHI, March 8: Top seed Syed Zuhair Raza reached the juniors U-17 singles final in style with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Omer Shahid in the second Sindh ranking tennis tournament semi-final at the DHA Sunset courts on Saturday.

Zuhair is drawn to meet the winner of Talha Saeed versus Mustafa Zaidi clash in the final.

Similarly, Mustafa Zaidi, the top seed, along with second seed Nameer Shamsi, Yayha Essa and Ramiz Farishta advanced to the boys U-15 singles semis.

The top two seeds – Seher Khawaja and Eman Malik – also propelled into the ladies singles final by notching up convincing victories.

Results:

Juniors U-17 quarter-final: Talha Saeed bt Bilal Shariff 6-2, 7-5.

Semi-final: Syed Zuhair Raza bt Omer Shahid 6-0, 6-1.

Boys U-15 singles quarter-finals: Mustafa Zaidi bt Farhan Mustafa 6-2, 6-3; Yayha Essa bt Daniyal Jafri 6-3, 6-1; Ramiz Farishta bt Usman 1-6, 6-2, 6-3; Nameer Shamsi bt Shayan Nadeem 6-1, 6-1.

Boys U-13 singles pro-set quarter-final: Khawaja Hamza bt Yasir Rasool 8-4.

Ladies singles semi-finals: Seher Khwaja bt Chamar Jaysinghe 6-2, 6-0; Eman Malik bt Farheen 6-0, 6-1.

Boys/girls U-11 singles pro-set first round: M. Raza Sawani bt Babar Muzaffar 8-6.

Quarter-finals: Fraz Ahmed Faiz bt Maheen Dada 8-4; Saad Rasool – walkover Ammad Ali.

Juniors U-17 doubles first round: Abdul Rehman/Talha Saeed bt Fraz Balagamwala/M. Ali Khanani 6-0, 6-1; Omer Usman/Muneeb Khan bt Uzair Qadir/Shayan Nadeem 6-3, 7-5; Farhan Mustafa/Rahmat Ali bt Asadullah/Basit Gabol 6-2, 6-2.
