ISLAMABAD, March 7: A former federal minister was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency late on Friday for his alleged involvement in human trafficking, FIA sources told Dawn.

Former federal minister for minorities Prof Mushtaq Victor was going home when a team of FIA officials arrested him at about 11pm, FIA Additional Director Mirza Yasin confirmed to Dawn.

He will be produced in a court on Saturday, the official said. A case has been registered against him for his alleged involvement in trafficking people to Britain, Canada, Germany and Italy on forged documents.

The FIA has also contacted Interpol to arrest and extradite two of Mushtaq Victor’s accomplices from abroad.
