ISLAMABAD, April 16: The residents of government apartments in Sector G-9/2, better known as Karachi Company, have expressed their concern over the dilapidated condition of the buildings and lack of maintenance by the authorities concerned.

Around 1,000 apartments of different categories had been constructed in the sector in early 1980s to provide accommodation to a growing number of low-paid government employees.

Continuous over-flowing of roof-top water tanks for hours, followed by suspension of supply is one of the various problems faced by the residents. The over-flowing water is also a major factor behind the deterioration of the building structure.

The residents claim that despite having written a number of applications to the departments concerned to improve the situation, no step has been taken so far. In addition to this, poor hygienic conditions in the area have also become a great nuisance for the people.
