QUETTA, March 6: A security man was killed and four others were injured in a landmine explosion on Thursday, and security forces claimed to have foiled a terrorist attempt to blow up an airstrip in the Pir Koh area.

According to sources, a vehicle carrying personnel of the Sibi Scouts hit the landmine in the Pat Feeder area of Dera Bugti district. One soldier, identified as Khalid Zafar, died on the spot. The vehicle was destroyed.

Security forces said that 12kgs of explosives were seized when they foiled the attempt to blow up the airstrip of the Pir Koh gas field.

Meanwhile, militants fired three rockets in the Loti gas field area which exploded in an open place. No casualty was reported.
