SUKKUR, March 3: An infant girl was criminally assaulted by a youth in Sangi, within the jurisdiction of Pano Akil police station, near Sukkur on Monday afternoon.

The 18-month girl was playing outside her house, when accused Farhan alias Gogi Shah 17, kidnapped and took her to a deserted place, where he criminally assaulted her and fled, leaving the infant in an unconscious condition.

Later, she was recovered by the area people, who rushed her to taluka hospital, Pano Akil, where her condition is said to be critical.

On the complaint of the girl’s father, Pano Akil police registered an FIR under section 376 Woman Protection Act and arrested the accused Farhan alias Gogi Shah and locked him up.
