HYDERABAD, March 2: Chairman Sindh Taraqi Passand Party Dr Qadir Magsi has said that the people have brought about a peaceful revolution against dictatorship and warned that if the future rulers tried to go against the people’s mandate, the consequences will be disastrous.

He was speaking at a two-day 16th annual congress of the party that concluded here on Sunday.

The party congress approved various amendments to the party’s constitution.

Dr Qadir Magsi said that it was for the first time in the history of the country that due to the struggle of the lawyers, civil society, APDM, democratic and nationalists forces and people at large, that the control of dictatorship on the country had been done away with.

Magsi was of the opinion that strong foundations of democracy were laid and expressed the hope that the judges would now be reinstated and independence of judiciary and media restored.

He stressed the need for elimination of terrorism, extremism, feudalism and tribal system, poverty, unemployment and price hike.

He said the people had given a clear mandate to PPP and warned that if the PPP leadership did not come up to the hopes and expectations of the Sindhi people, it would face serious consequences.
